Route

Leg 1 – London to Portsmouth

After handing in our notice and assembling our cycle homes for the next 4 months we Brexit 130km through Surrey and West Sussex to the Channel ferry in Portsmouth.

Leg 2 – Cherbourg – Nantes

Arriving on the shores of Normandy, we push south to the beginning of the Loire Valley. Along the way we see history in the D-Day beaches, drink cider at orchards and have our first encounter with some serious hills.

 Leg 3 – Loire Valley

This is the honeymoon period. The Eurovelo 6 route should be relatively flat, the French food amazing and the countryside the rural idyll. Last thing these people need is a pair of grubby cyclists sleeping in the bushes.

Leg 4 – Switzerland to Germany

We head to Lausanne and then take a rest off the bike to do a run around Mont Blanc. After our 170km run, we are back on the bike taking on the high mountains of Switzerland to Lake Constance and Germany.

Leg 5 – The Bavarian Alps

We are pushed for time here and we must make our way across the foothills of the Bavarian Alps in a mad dash to make Munich Airport – all in time for a few weddings.

GER Leg 5

Leg 6 – The Dolomites through Italy

Traversing south across the Alps and the Dolomites, we chance our hand at via ferrata before making our way across Tuscany and to the eastern port of Bari.

ITA Leg 6

Leg 7 – The Adriatic to the Aegean

The home straight, through Montenegro, Albania and Greece will offer many different experiences. Three countries we are yet to travel. As the cold of Autumn advances, hopefully travelling south will delay the feeling.
